Louise qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse in Liverpool eventually leaving as a Senior Tax Manager to start a family. Outside of work she looks after 3 boys, 1 cat and 2 dogs.
We're authors ourselves having written the chapter on Tax and Finances in the 2023 Writers' & Artists' Yearbook.
We've been advising our writer clients for nearly 50 years between us. We understand creative averaging, what writers can claim for and even how withholding tax works.
We won't roll our eyes if you get something wrong or if you ask what you think might be a stupid question. We enjoy what we do and love helping people to feel like they're on top of their finances.
Any one can call themselves an "accountant" but we're Chartered Accountants. We have to keep our knowledge up to date, have insurance in place and be regulated and monitored by a professional body. We have been recognised in the accountancy industry as winners of prestigious 2022 Accounting Excellence Awards for 'Specialist Team of the Year' and 'New Firm of the Year'
Writers Tax provide tax advice to authors and writers.
Our clients are authors, scriptwriters, journalists and freelance writers. Some are household names while others are just starting their careers. We’re a firm of chartered accountants. If you’re after the cheapest accountants then that probably won’t be us. But if you’re after clear, friendly expert advice and someone you can trust to go the extra mile then we’d love to talk to you. Interested? Get in touch

Jonathan qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse in Liverpool before heading up the finances at Mersey TV (Brookside, Hollyoaks).
"I would hate Louise or Jonathan to rate me because I am a terrible client. They in turn are reliable, patient and efficient. I will stay with them as long as they will put up with me"
“Although reputedly good with words I have an innate fear of anything involving numbers and so selecting the right Accountant was vital. Queries are always answered fully, promptly and at a level my non-mathematical brain can comprehend. I give Louise my highest personal recommendation”
“Louise is brilliant, especially when dealing with a slightly numbers phobic creative. She always answers any questions and advises on all tax matters even when relating to international matters. I would highly recommend her for considered, thorough, friendly tax advice.”
