Writers Tax wins Small Firm of the Year 2026

We have some lovely news!
Writers Tax has been named Small Firm of the Year at the Accounting Excellence Awards 2026.
The Accounting Excellence Awards are one of the UK’s leading awards for the accountancy profession – a bit like the Oscars…
We were shortlisted alongside some excellent accountancy firms from across the country and genuinely didn’t expect our name to be called on the night.
A specialist firm for writers
Writers Tax is unusual in a few ways.
We specialise in working with authors, scriptwriters, journalists and other professional writers.
That specialism is important to us. It means we spend our working lives dealing with the things that affect writers: royalties, overseas income, creative averaging, publishing companies and all the other tax and accounting quirks that come with making a living from writing.
Over the years we’ve built our service around that specialist knowledge, developing systems and ways of working designed specifically for writers rather than trying to make a general accountancy service fit.
Those were some of the things we talked about in our award entry, alongside the work we’ve done to make dealing with tax as straightforward and stress-free as possible.
Our basic philosophy has always been pretty simple:
We want our clients to spend their time writing, not worrying about tax.
It’s particularly nice to have that approach recognised by the Accounting Excellence judges.
